Of course not many suspected this to begin with (including myself), as there were many theories as to who pink was and who the diamonds were but when you see the amount of research and thinking that was put into this series it really makes you appreciate how everything turned out. Hence why pink and rose being the same person is actually kind of genius. However the similarities between the two gems and their symbolism and purpose from the past seem far too similar to be a coincidence. Therefore no one would ever think that a great diamond would ever become something as lowly and common as a rose quartz. Scientists believe that the color is due to impurities from other minerals. It is colored naturally and very affordable due too it’s flaws and hazy color. And as for battle damage, that makes a lot of sense when you think about Rose’s shield. The fact that both rose and pink are said to be an antidote for poison seem too much to be a coincident. If you look at my last post on diamonds you’ll see that I talked about how diamonds were also said to be able to heal, alleviate poison, and protect one from battle damage. It was said to be an effective antidote poison. In medieval times, doctors use rose quartz for healing potions. Which totally is related to Rose rising up to stop the diamonds from attacking earth. Aphrodite rushed to save him and she got caught in a thornbush, and her blood stained the white quartz below her. There is a legend that states that rose quartz was created when Adonis, lover of the Greek goddess Aphrodite, was attacked by Aries. Rose quartz is said to help one learn tolerance and forgiveness, and learn to love the beauty in all things. It is a known as the stone of gentle love or unconditional love. It is also for platonic love, familial love, and self-love. Rose melts mistrust and suspicion and opens the heart chakra again. It is said to “help dissolve old hurts and open the heart to trust and love”. Rose quartz symbolizes love, trust, hope, nurturing, joy, and emotional healing. Rose quartz, eh? OK I know she’s actually ( SPOILER) pink diamond, but this is still relevant to who she was as Rose.
I’m a nerd who likes Steven and geology and needs to rant so here’s part two. And if you look at the science behind each stone, you begin to see the symbolism throughout the show and the research done by the crewniverse. The thought put into each character in Steven Universe is astounding.
